~ INVITATION WORDING IDEAS ~
Many couples are stumped when it comes to invitation wording! It is especially difficult when the Bride or Groom's
parents are separated or re-married. And what about etiquette? Is it rude to mention certain things on the invitation?
In my opinion, your wording should really just reflect the style or theme of the event and your personalities.
For example, if you are a fairly laid-back couple having a beach or outdoor ceremony, the invitation wording would be
quite casual. However, a more traditional, black tie event would call for formal wording.
Your invitation wording may also depend on who is paying for the wedding or invitations. If the wedding is being
hosted by the Bride's parents (which has traditionally been the case), then their names should appear at the beginning
of the invitation as the hosts. But many weddings nowadays are paid for and hosted by the couple themselves,
in which case the Bride & Groom's parents names may be left off the invitations.
But in the end it comes down to personal choice and what you feel comfortable with.
Remember, it's YOUR wedding day!
Below are a few wording ideas to get you started.

~ GIFT TIP WORDING IDEAS ~
It is also quite common these days to include a gift slip with your invitation, which lets guests know if you
have a bridal registry with a particular store or that you would perhaps prefer gift vouchers, contribution to a
honeymoon fund or a monetary gift (sometimes referred to as a 'wishing well' or 'treasure chest').
Wording these can be quite difficult (as you would like to give your guests guidance without sounding demanding!)
so below are some ideas which you can tailor to your own needs.
|
WISHING WELL POEM 1
More than just kisses so far we've shared,
Our home has been made with Love and Care,
Most things we need we've already got,
Like a toaster and kettle, pans and pots
A wishing well we thought would be great,
(But only if you wish to participate),
A gift of money is placed in the well,
Then make a wish .... but shhh don't tell!
Once we've replaced the old with the new,
We can look back and say it was thanks to you!
And in return for your kindness, we're sure
That one day soon you will get what you wished for.
|
WISHING WELL POEM 2
We don’t want to offend but we have it all,
all household goods and so much more.
To save you shopping, sit back and rest,
a gift of currency is our request.
Don’t go overboard or rob any banks,
any little thing will make us smile with thanks.
We supply the wishing well,
just pop in an envelope and who can tell?
Now that we have saved you all the fuss,
we would love you to come and
celebrate with us!
|
HONEYMOON FUND
We’ve collected most things over the years
from household appliances, to linen and
holiday souvenirs
With everyone travelling from afar
it may be hard to fit a present in the car
Our wish is only to see you on the day
celebrating in your own special way
But if you still wish to give a gift
we’d love you giving our honeymoon fund
a little lift
Place your gift in an envelope
and wish for all your dreams and hopes
|
GIFT VOUCHER 1
Your presence at our celebration
is all that we ask,
but if you wish to bring a gift
and are stuck for ideas
a voucher from (insert store)
would be put to good use!
Bride & Groom's names
|
GIFT VOUCHER 2
To save you looking, shopping and buying,
Here’s an idea we hope you’ll like trying,
As we have all the little things we require,
Some vouchers for bigger things is what we desire,
But, most importantly, we request,
that you turn up as our wedding guest!
Vouchers from (insert store) or a contribution to our (insert store) registry would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
|
CHARITY REQUEST
Next to your presence at our wedding,
a donation made to the charity
of your choice in honour of our marriage
would be the most meaningful gift you could give us.
Thank you
